ANTIQUE NOSE PADS |
Art Craft, Shuron,
Universal, and B&L made
replacement nose pads for their
frames produced. |
These nose pads
fit several other brand frames due
to the patent licensing going on
back then. |
The patents
companies had on their nose pads
were taken very serious by 5 main
manufacturers. |
American Optical
made what they called "Repair Pads"
for their Riveted-0n permanent nose
pads. |
From the early 1900's into the early 70's AO made several models of their
"Repair Pads". |
The PA-33 Type Repair pad, The PA-58 Type Repair Pad, and what they called the
AO V-Pad. |
AO also bought interest in other companies such as Art Craft and COC that also
had the AO patented rivet-on nose pads for a period of time. All rivet-on pads
had the same nose pad arms, so take the same replacement pad. |
AO only sold these pads to optical shops, and in packages of 10pads each. |
This practice, of course, make the AO 'Repair" pads extremely rare today. |
